On 5th June 1999, the Photographic Society of NUS organized its inaugural public seminar and exhibition at a NUS Lecture Theatre. With a successful turnout of over 200 participants, the Photographic Society of NUS was greatly encouraged to continue in the tradition of Montage.
Since then, the standard and prestige of the event has grown immensely, eventually making Montage an event every photographer looks forward to.
Montage provides an excellent opportunity for students ranging from the secondary schools to tertiary institutions, as well as members of the public to come together to further develop and nurture their interest in photography.
Many young photographers endowed with creative ideas and exquisite skills lack avenues for them to showcase their talent, resulting in limited exposure and contribution to the photographic scene in Singapore. Hence, Montage also aims to serve as a platform for these young photographers to present their works for professional and public critiques, and hence raises the profiles of the outstanding young photographers and catalyses their growing interest in photography.
Furthermore, Montage allows photo enthusiasts in Singapore to have greater insights into the field of professional photography through our seminar. Each year we invite the best in various photographic fields to share their experiences and tips in their career with our participants. Through such sharing and interaction our participants will understand more about their own pursuit in photography.
